There was a six week period where the excitement over Tim Tebow grew like a nuclear reaction, with “buzzer beater” wins leading to more and more attention. The Denver Broncos backed into the NFL playoffs, too embarrassed to wear the T-shirts and caps that celebrated their AFC West championship. Everyone picked the Pittsburgh Steelers to demolish them in the first round of the playoffs. Instead, Tebow threw an 80 yard touchdown pass to win the game in overtime. It was another, ho-hum, last minute miracle. As Sports Center commentators rolled their eyes in amazement, the conversation shifted to the next game against the New England Patriots. The Patriots turned out to be too much for a rookie quarterback in his first season as a starter. Tebow time appeared to be over. In Tebow’s post-game interview, he was asked if his faith had let him down. Tim smiled and said that, after all, it was only a football game, and he was even more motivated to work harder in the off-season. He said he still had his Tim Tebow foundation, and he was still able to continue working on a hospital for children in the Philippines. For a 24 year old, he seems to be a remarkably balanced young man, whose time is far from over.
